Be Still and Know That I am God

It has been a few days since I last posted. I have been busy with my blog at: www.dailysignsofhope.com. It has been growing so fast that we are ranked # 2 out of 6.1 similar sites according to the Google Search Rankings. We are averaging about 15 new RSS feed subscribers a day.

I would love to start that kind of action here as well. Please take a couple of minutes and sign-up for the RSS feed here. It really helps this site move up in the rankings.

I have some exciting news! I just had a trailer made for my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World.”  I received an email yesterday with the final draft in it, and I approved it. They said it would be 3-4 days before it hits YouTube, and the other video outlets on the web. I will be having it as a regular feature on this site when it comes out.

I am very impressed with the quality of it, and I hope you will too. Keep checking back to see when it comes out.

Often times when we pray we are doing in a noisy, or busy place. It is very difficult to concentrate when that is happening. Look at it this way:

Imagine you are at a party with a friend and you are trying to talk to them. There is a lot of noise, and clamor. You are trying to whisper what you want to say in the other person’s ear.

The one listening will not be able to hear what you are saying. That could be what happens when we are in a crowded and noisy area when we are praying to God. We can’t concentrate, and will not be able to get across what we really are trying to say.

We need to find a quiet place when we “talk” to God. We need to be able to concentrate on what we are saying, and who we are talking to.

God says, “Be still and know that I am God.” He is telling us that He is our God, and we need to quietly follow Him, and be connected through prayer.

The next time you pray, think about the quality of how you are praying. Think like God is sitting right next to you in a chair carrying on a conversation with you. Then share your hurts, and thoughts about others you are concerned about. It will bring the level of your prayers to a new high, and you will feel much closer to God.

The United States Will Not be Bullied Into Fear

I have been  away for over two weeks doing book signings, and traveling across the United States. I am back now, and hope to have a regular posting schedule for the fall.

I told you way back on August 22nd, that I was going to start sharing actual excerpts from my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World.” I then took off for several weeks. My apologizes for that. I will explain my absence below.

From August 26th-September 5th. I did a signing at the Oregon State Fair in Salem, Oregon. What a great experience that was. I met thousands of people. I handed out over 200 business cards, and sold many books.

I was invited back for next year so I hope to see some of you there.

Form September 6th- 11th, I was traveling the United States by bus, plane, and train.  In future posts I will slowly tell you about how that went. It was a wonderful trip.

I sold three books to people who traveled with me.

One of the things I noticed is how people reacted to the 9-11 day travel. You would think that the terminals would be empty, and no flights would be going on Sunday the 11th.

Just the opposite happened. The terminal were full of travelers, and some flights were over booked.

This proves that the people of the United States will not be bullied into fear. We will withstand any threats, and continue with our lives.

Perseverance and Persistence, Two Very Important Words

I want to remind you that I will be at the Oregon State Fair at the Oregon author’s table, signing my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World.” The fair starts tomorrow at 10:00am and runs through September 5th. I will be there everyday except the 5th form 10:00am-10:00 pm. Drop by and say hello if you are in the area. The fair is held in Salem Oregon.

I recently was at a Oregon Christian Writer’s Conference in Turner, Oregon,  and learned a great deal. I learned that perseverance and persistence pays off. I scheduled appointments with two agents, and three publishers while I was there.

Both agents wanted me to send them more information on my book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to survive in an Unfriendly World.” They felt it had merit, and may want to represent me in the future. This is the first time any agents were interested.

I met with three publishers. All three took my book and asked me to also send them a proposal. This is the first time any publishers were interested.

Do you see a pattern? I have been to this same Oregon Christian Writer’s Conference for four years. I didn’t even get the time of day from any agents or publishers in the past. I stuck to it and kept improving my work. I listened to the  advice the agents and publishers gave me before to improving my chances.

This year, I put all of it together, and I may have worked hard enough to finally have it pay off.  Perseverance and persistence; two of my favorite words.
