Life is, at Best, Uncertain

Yesterday was a beautiful day. Lots of sun, and in the 70’s. Today is dark, and rainy. What can I say….it is Oregon. We have the saying here, “wait five minutes,” as far as what the weather may be from minute to minute.

That happens in our lives. We never know from one minute to the next what we may be facing. Life is at best uncertain.

How do we cope with days like this?

It is called prayer. We should start out each day sharing our needs, and be praising God for His love, before we enter the daily rat race. God is there to listen, and will be with us where ever we go.

With God on our side, who can be against us?

The sales of my new book, “Signs of Hope: Ways to Survive in an Unfriendly World,” is still going well. I just had a signing at a local winery and did quite well.

Why is this book doing so well? It is because it shares ways to cope in that rat race above I was talking about. It helps those who are battling anxiety, fear, depression, hopelessness, addictions, self-doubt, etc. It starts out telling my own story of how I was at the end of my rope, and was considering checking out of this hotel called earth.

It then sends out messages to help the reader find ways to battle the trials and storms of life.

You can have this book for s special price right now. In the stores the book price is $19.99, but if you order from this site it is only $15.99. The shipping has been cut in half as well. A total savings of over $6.00.

When you order you will also be sent an autographed copy with a personal note.

I hope you will at least go to the top of the page and click on the “Bookstore,” tab, and read to description of the book. You might also check out some impressive endorsements, by clicking on that tab at the top.

Stay strong, and never ever give up!

The Younger Generation is Drifting into the Twilight Zone

*It has been a few days since I last posted. It has been busy, and also I had some doctor issues. I hope to post much more often in the future.

I went and watched a “punk Rock,” band last night. It was my very first time I watched this kind of music. (Probably will be my last too.) The reason I went to watch is that my nephew was the drummer in the band. I was amazed at his energy through the whole,”gig.” He never let up and was in full movement the whole hour and a half they played. He was very good, and I actually enjoyed a couple songs. I started to get up to jump up and down like the groupies were doing, but my back said “No way!” I sat back down, and just tapped the table with my fingers.

The younger generation has slowly drifted into the twilight zone with music. I listened very carefully and tried to understand their strange movements, and gestures as they sang, but I am a dinosaur in Jurassic Park, trying to fit into the modern world when it comes to the new kind of music we hear today.

Do you feel the same way about fitting into the new wave, or the “new religions?” Are there some movements you see rising up that scare you, and make you wonder what this world is coming to? You certainly aren’t alone.

There are many new sects, and religions that are popping up because there are many people interpreting the Bible to their own liking. They pick out a few versus, and base their new religion on them out of context.

The bottom line is that the Bible cannot be torn apart and made into to what ever we want it to be. God wrote the Bible, and the words will not change. The meaning seems to change with the people translating it into a version to helps them with their own philosophy.

Does all of this cause you frustration, anxiety, self-doubt, etc? I can really relate to that. I have been there. I had my doubts in the past.

Remember, the Word of God never changes. People change. All we have to do is believe, and let the rest of the people argue over what the right outcome will be. (I know the outcome. I’ve read the end of the book!)

Write Your Plans in Pencil, and Give God the Eraser

I had a book signing at Eola Hilss Winery in Rickreal, Oregon On Sunday, which was Mother’s Day. My wife and I thought we could seel as many as 70 books, because the brunch they was holding was sold out, and 700 people were coming.

It didn’t turn out that way. We only sold 7 books. This might sound like a failure to some, but let me share what happened.

One lady bought four of the seven books. She bought one book early in the morning, and then came back ab0ut an hour later and said she had read some of it while eating the brunch with her three children. She loved it and wanted each of them to have one too.

One of her sons was out of work, and was battling depression. I was able to meet him out in the parking lot, and told him that I was going to pray for him. A seed was planted, and it wouldn’t have  happened if I wasn’t there for the signing.

Another woman bought a book for her mother who was there. I met the mother later, and she was excited to personally meet an author. ( What ever that means!)

A staff member working the brunch bought one for her boyfriend. She said he needed some encouragement.

The seventh book was bought by the father-in law of the owner of the winery. The owner had bought a book earlier, and told his father-in-law that he loved the book and was reading it the second time.

Another staff member told me of a Christian bookstore in a small town near him that would probably carry the book if I talked to them.

None of this would have happened if i didn’t do the signing that day. So was it a success? Yes it was. I predicted what I thought the outcome would be, but God had other plans.
